Patrice Desilets is best known as the podgy developer from Ubisoft who helped shape the Assassin’s Creed series, at least as far as the first two games are concerned. He’s also remembered for being quite clearly drunk during an interview for Assassin’s Creed II but we’ll let that one slide because he was pretty funny to watch.
Desilets left Ubisoft in 2011, presumably part of the reason for this was the publisher/developer’s handling of the AC franchise. He went over to THQ Montreal but since the company went under and Ubisoft bought up the Montreal studio, Desilets’ future has been in contention.
It has now been confirmed that Desilets has returned into the arms of Ubisoft.
“We are very pleased to welcome Patrice to Ubisoft again and anticipate that this renewed partnership will produce new ideas and high-quality titles for Ubisoft’s customers,” a spokesperson said.
Desilets was creative director on two projects codenamed 1666 and Underdog which may still be continued under Ubisoft. Perhaps since he’s back he could take a look at Assassin’s Creed and try to remedy whatever it is that has happened with that series. If anyone can fix it, it’s him.
