Patrice Désilets, former Assassin’s Creed creative director, recently speaking during a session at the Gamelab conference in Barcelona this week, stated that he hopes to finish his title, 1666, someday.
“I’m fighting for it, and that’s all I can say for now. It’s all those years of experience put together,” he said, as quoted by GamesIndustry.biz
“I’m sorry guys, it was amazing. And it still is amazing, and I hope to get it back and finish it for you – and for me.”
Désilets left Ubisoft in 2010 to establish THQ Montreal, but in a bizarre series of events saw his team and their title in development acquired by the company he quit.
Then he got fired from Ubisoft, and prompted to sue them for $ 400,000 over his rights to purchase 1666. He also claimed that Ubisoft terminated his contract against his will and ”unceremoniously escorted” him out of the building, without even letting him say goodbye to colleagues and friends or collect his possessions.
Désilets claims that a clause in his contract enables him to acquire the rights to 1666 and certain assets in the event that it is cancelled.
Ubisoft recently suspended development of the game ”for an undisclosed period of time”.
